LITTLE MARLOW v WEST WYCOMBE

Saturday 26th April 2008

Little Marlow enjoyed a comfortable home victory over West Wycombe on Saturday.

The visitors elected to bat first and, after losing Sage to a fine diving catch in the gully by Tahir Rashid, saw Jones (65) and Castle (35) make slow but steady progress against tidy bowling from Tim Potter and Imran Mohammed. However, after they were separated, Usman Akram and Mansoor Hussain, supported by sharp one-handed catches at slip and point by Mike Bath and Arfan Sharif, quickly removed the middle order. Howe (19) and Coade (10*) struck a few blows towards the end of the allotted 40 overs, but 162 for 7 was well below par.

Little Marlow, led by Anwar Mahmood’s fluent half-century and Farooq Hussain’s undefeated 31, experienced few problems in reaching their target, for the loss of 3 wickets, with an over to spare.

LITTLE MARLOW v GREAT MISSENDEN PELICANS

Sunday 27th April 2008

Despite miserly bowling from Paul Slatter, Steve Shore and debutant Phil Bond, Little Marlow were unable to recover from a poor batting display in their 35 overs per side Sunday game.

After Andy West won the toss against Great Missenden Pelicans and decided to bat on a slow, green-tinged Bradish Ellames Recreation Ground pitch, only Dave Armitage managed to build a substantial innings; his 46 being the sole double figures contribution amongst the top six. Tickler claimed 3 for 20 as the hosts scraped their way to an inadequate 128 for 8.

The Pelicans were held in check for the first 16 overs of their reply but, with all ten wickets in hand, then pressed the accelerator to speed towards an emphatic win.

Nichols made 49 before holing out to Nigel Matthews at long-on. He shared 92 with Bechevvaise (29) who followed him back to the pavilion 4 runs later when Armitage pulled off an athletic low catch at deep square leg.

Bailey and Tickler ensured there were no further alarms as they completed the 8 wickets victory.

LITTLE MARLOW ACADEMY v WOOBURN NARKOVIANS UNDER 15

Sunday 27th April 2008

Little Marlow’s Academy team had its first home game ruined by the weather.

Wooburn Narkovians’ U.15s chose to bat first and were quickly out of the blocks. Undeterred, Sahil Dogra and Zain Gill, having found their bearings after a couple of loose overs, then produced some excellent deliveries as the visitors slipped to 40 for 3.

Dyer’s undefeated 25 tilted the balance once more before lightening drove the players off the field. Rain followed to force an abandonment with the scoreboard showing 80 for 3 after 10 overs.
